ONE CHOICE FOR CHANGE

...even with the inspiration of others, it's understandable that we sometimes think the world's problems are so big that we can do little to help. On our own, we cannot end wars or wipe out injustice, but the cumulative impact of thousands of small acts of goodness can be bigger than we imagine.
- Queen Elizabeth II

YOU CAN HELP !

for more than 41 million americans, hunger is a way of life
  • 5.2 million seniors, or 6.8% of the senior population
  • 9 million, or 1 out of 8 children
  • 33.6% of disabled veterans, 20% of unemployed veterans, 1 in 9 working age veterans
  • 32% of Americans with disabilities
  • 19.8% of Black and 16.2% of Hispanic households
  • 13.5 million, or 10.2% of all US households

The ugly truth is that, in the "land of plenty", millions of Americans go hungry every day.

The Problem

Food insecurity effects people from all walks of life. All classes. All ages. People in every single county in every one of our 50 states. Many of us are just one job loss, missed paycheck, or medical emergency away from hunger. Every neighborhood has households without consistent access to enough food to live an active, healthy life. Rural communities are especially hard hit, and groups like children, seniors, Black, Indigenous, and other people of color face hunger at much higher rates. And when people go hungry, so do their pets; pets who are often the only solace and support for those living in poverty - especially the elderly, ill and disabled.

What About Existing Programs?

Existing aid programs are frequently not the answer. Many households that experience food insecurity do not qualify for federal nutrition programs and visit their local food banks and other food programs for extra support. Over 53 million people use food banks and community programs to help put food on the table.

How to Help

So, how does it work? We’re making it easy. We collect food and work with carefully selected local organizations to get that food to people who need it. All of the acts and agencies that showcase with us participate and that’s a great start. We are asking the rest of you - agencies and presenters alike -to join us. Bring one non-perishable food item with you to the conference. Just one. For even the worst over packers, a can of tuna or a bag of rice is bound to fit in your suitcase. Imagine what it would be if we all brought just one.

FOOD ITEMS MAY BE DROPPED OFF IN THE DROP BOX OUTSIDE OF THE FOURMORTALS SHOWCASE ROOMS AT ANYTIME.

You bring the food, we’ll take care of the rest. Like we said at the beginning - simple. Yet, such powerful potential! Quite simply, it’s about changing our world for the better - one small choice at a time.
